Sue Paananen from EEK I Need a Geek shares with us a useful tip to get the most out for your networking.
“I like to go and meet new people each time and I let the people I know be aware of that and say ‘excuse me I want to sit in the other people’ and get to know as many people as possible while I’m there and not stay with people that I already know.” Says Sue. This helps a lot because people get to know her and vice versa. You can nurture those networks of people that you already know in other ways. When you’re at an event and you’re there to meet somebody new stretch yourself out of your comfort zone and you will find that it is very worthwhile.
Don’t spend too much time with the people you already know and have a connection with. Learn ti limit your time to meet others as well because the main reason people congregate is to socialize and build more connections. Don’t just hang with the people you already know. Give new people a chance to get to know you!
